The Fast Show star Simon Day has had his beloved pet dog stolen from his home.

The actor and comedian – best known for his role in the BBC comedy sketch show – revealed that his home in north west London was burgled on Tuesday night and his Jack Russell-pug cross Coco was stolen, along with bank cards.

Day, 57, appealed on Twitter for information.

He also said a neighbour has CCTV footage of a person in hood and gloves approaching their house and that one of Day’s bank cards had been used in the middle of night.

Day said he was: “Only worried about the dog.”

The father-of-two said his bank had given him the name and address of the shop where the card was used but he was struggling to report the robbery as his local police station has closed down.

Earlier this year former Liverpool player Daniel Sturridge had his dog stolen from his house in Los Angeles.

The footballer appealed for help on social media, asking his 3.4 million followers to help him find his beloved pet Pomeranian Lucci and even offering a £30,000 reward for its safe return.

Sturridge was reunited with his dog a day later, although it is not known how the dog was found.

The burglary of Day’s home follows a spate of celebrity homes being ransacked at night.

This week actor Richard E Grant revealed his car had been stolen from outside his west London home during the nignt.

And YouTube vlogger Saffron Barker – who was voted off Strictly Come Dancing last weekend – recently revealed that her family’s home had been targeted, with robbers making off with cars and also ransacking the house for handbags and shoes.
