‘Fauda’ Actor Idan Amedi Seriously Injured Amid Israel-Hamas War (Report)

Fauda actor Idan Amedi is recovering after he was seriously injured while fighting in Gaza during reserve duty for the Israeli Defense Forces, according to Israeli media reports.

Amedi, who plays the role of Sagi Tzur on Netflix’s popular Israeli drama, joined Israel’s military campaign in Gaza as part of the Combat Engineering Corps immediately after the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in southern Israel by Hamas that killed more than 1,100 Israelis, most of whom were civilians.

The Times of Israel newspaper reported an injured Amedi was brought to the Sheba Medical Center in Israel, where he underwent surgery and continues to receive treatment. Amedi’s life is not in danger, the Israeli singer and actor’s father told the Hebrew-language Walla news site.

Fauda creators Lior Raz (who also plays officer Doron Kabilio) and Avi Issacharoff jointly praised Amedi for his courage and sacrifice on the Gaza battlefield as part of a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.

“You all have already heard, so just to say in my name and in the name [of Lior Raz] that Idan Amedi is a real hero and from the first day of the war he decided to put everything aside and go out to fight. First in the north and then in the south. We pray for his speedy recovery and are sure he will be fine,” Issacharoff wrote on his X page (per Google Translate) on behalf of Raz, who himself is a former soldier in an elite Israeli special forces unit.

Israeli actors and producers — many of whom, like Amedi, are reserve soldiers — left their film sets in the immediate wake of the Oct. 7 attacks to take part in Israel’s mobilization against Hamas in Gaza.
