Fearless Dandenong Shop Worker Scares Off Thieves With Metal Pole

A plucky shop worker used a pole to threaten a trio of thieves who robbed a shop in Dandenong on Saturday, May 19.

During the frightening ordeal, three men entered the Hemmings Street store at about 7:30pm, armed with a metal pole, before the employee struck back with his own pole.

Police described them as “perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged between 18 to 30 years old, and were all wearing dark clothing with facial coverings”.

The four scuffled before the thieves made away with chocolates and cigarettes, police said. A woman and a girl were present at the time, according to the report.

A police spokesman said: “The male employee received some serious but non-life threatening injuries as a result of the scuffle, a 45-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries and a 16-year-old girl who were also present at the time was uninjured.” Credit: Victoria Police via Storyful
