FELL rescue volunteers broke away from their main fundraising event on Saturday to go to help a walker with an injured ankle at Yarnbury, near Grassington.

The Upper Rescue Fell Rescue team was nearing the end of its Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge event at Kettlewell, when it was called for assistance by Yorkshire Ambulance Service

A spokesperson for the Grassington based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) said: "On our arrival the lady was given pain relief and her leg splinted before she was driven back to our base in Grassington to keep her warm whilst we waited for the ambulance to arrive.

"Once the YAS ambulance arrived the casualty was handed to their care and we headed back to Kettlewell to pack everything up. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
