Fermanagh ratings

Ross Bogue: Very little he could do with the three goals and made a good save from Andrew Murnin before Jarly Óg Burns followed up. 6.5

Lee Cullen: Had his hands full with Jarly Óg Burns in the opening half as the Silverbridge clubman hit 1-1 from play. Better in the second half. 6.5

Che Cullen: Gave away a few frees and found Conor Turbit difficult to handle, but also made two excellent near-hand tackles and picked up Rian O’Neill when he drifted into full-forward. 6.5.

Oisin Smyth: Was dragged out of position too many occasions as Armagh got in for three first half goals and missed Fermanagh’s best chance in the first half when his effort was stopped on the line. 6

Declan McCusker: Fermanagh’s captain wasn’t at his best against a rampant Armagh forward line and didn’t offer his full-back line enough cover. 6

Shane McGullion: Won a free which was converted in the second half, but was taken for 1-2 from play by the in-form Stefan Campbell. 6.5

Cian McManus: It just didn’t happen for Cian McManus on Sunday and he was withdrawn after just 22 minutes. 5

Ronan McCaffrey: The Teemore native had spells picking up Andrew Murnin and Rian O’Neill. Looks more comfortable as a man-marker than at midfield. 6.5

Joe McDade: Failed to impose himself on the game and Fermanagh were very much second-best in midfield on Sunday. 6

Conor McGee: Like several of his colleagues, Conor McGee failed to make a meaningful impact on the game and was called ashore midway through the second half. 6

Conor McShea: Scored one point from play, albeit looked lucky not to be called for taking too many steps. 6.5

Fionan O’Brien: On a day to forget for Fermanagh, O’Brien was the one bright light scoring three fine points from play. 8

Ultan Kelm: Fermanagh’s best player had a rare off day. Picked up an early black card and Armagh scored two goals in his absence. Tried too hard to make amends and hit a series of poor wides before landing a point. 6

Garvan Jones: Another of Fermanagh’s leading attacker who failed to hit top form. One converted free and was replaced midway through the second half. 6

Sean Cassidy: Scored Fermanagh’s first point after 22 minutes with a well-taken free and earned his side a couple of frees. 6.5

Subs

Josh Largo Elis: Introduced for Cian McManus after 22 minutes and settled into the game quickly and won plenty of possession. 6.5

Conor Love: A fine cameo from Conor Love wielded two points, one from play and one from a free. 7

Brandon Horan: Looked to be lacking match sharpness and Fermanagh could have done with his physically at midfield. 6

Johnny Cassidy: Introduced for Oisin Smyth for the closing 10 minutes but the game was well past Fermanagh at that stage. 5

Darragh McGurn: Like Cassidy, didn’t have long to make an impact, but gives Fermanagh a different option at full-forward in the Tailteann Cup. 5

Armagh ratings

Blaine Hughes: Might have been caught out early on, but Aaron McKay made a great clearance to deny Oisin Smyth. Otherwise very solid under the high ball and got the majority of his kickouts away. 7

Paddy Burns: Burns is continuing to impress back to full fitness and kept tabs on Sean Cassidy, holding him scoreless from play. 7.5

Aaron McKay: A stunning goal-line clearance denied Oisin Smyth and McKay was excellent at the heart of the Armagh defence. Kieran McGeeney called him ashore moments after being booked with the game in the bag. 7.5

Peter McGrane: Didn’t get as many scoring chances as some of the League games, but still a solid Championship debut for the Ballyhegan lad. 6.5

Joe McElroy: Had spells on Ultan Kelm and Sean Cassidy. Did his defence duties well without offering much of a threat going forward. 6.5

Ciaran Mackin: Another excellent display at centre-back from Mackin. Got forward to two excellent points and was always in the right place at the right time. 8

Aidan Forker: Alternated with Mackin as Armagh’s sweeper and rarely wasted a ball as the Orchard County defence finished the game well on top of the Fermanagh forwards. 7

Rian O’Neill: A return to the Armagh starting line-up for Rian O’Neill and he begun with a stunning point from play from 50 metres. More subdued as the game wore on and picked up a late knock and was replaced. 7

Ben Crealey: Won his duel with Joe McDade and won plenty of possession around the middle third. Another solid shift from the Maghery clubman. 6.5

Stefan Campbell: Has moved from an impact sub to a key attacker in the Armagh clog and scored 1-2 from play. Narrowly egged out for Man-of-the-Match. 8

Rory Grugan - Star man: Set up Armagh’s first goal for Conor Turbitt and was involved in so much of what Armagh did well. A classy operator, Rory Grugan was Armagh’s most consistent performer in the League and he was at his brilliant best again on Sunday. His evasion of several tackles for McCambridge’s score was sublime. 8.5

Conor Turbitt: Took his goal well and landed a good free and always offered himself as an outlet in attack. 7

Oisin Conaty: One of finds of the season for Kieran McGeeney, Oisin Conaty struggled to exert himself on the game on Sunday and was the only starting forward not to score. 6.5

Andrew Murnin: Like Grugan, Murnin is a classy player and he adds so much to the Armagh attack when fully fit. Switched with Rian O’Neill at times and made several selfless decoy runs. 7.5

Jarly Óg Burns: It seems his transition from defence to attack is a permanent one and Burns hit 1-1 on Sunday and looked lively throughout. 7

Subs

Oisin O’Neill: Landed the last kick of the game and will be hoping to force his way into Kieran McGeeney’s first 15 for the Down game. 6.5

Barry McCambridge: Scored a fisted pont after brilliant work from Grugan. 6.5

Connaire Mackin: Introduced for the final stages for Rian O’Neill, but didn’t offer much of a threat. 5.5

Aidan Nugent: Got on plenty of ball late on, but kicked one wide. 5.5

Tiernan Kelly: Not on long enough to be rated.
