Former The Only Way is Essex star Ferne McCann showed off a complete hair transformation in August to celebrate turning 30.

The reality star, whose new series of Ferne McCann: First Time Mum starts tonight (October 22) on ITVBe, discussed why she decided to go for a shorter look while appearing on today's edition of This Morning.

Speaking to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, Ferne shared: "The day before my 30th birthday I had this moment where I was like, 'cut it all off, get it gone.'

"I always wore extensions...I was hiding behind my hair extensions all the time and I was like, 'you know what, get them gone' and now I feel liberated.

"New hair, new me, I'm 30 now guys."

When asked by Ruth if she had a new man in her life, Ferne said "unfortunately not," but added that usually when she decides to just focus on herself that's when the universe sends her love.

Back in May Ferne revealed she had split from boyfriend Albie Gibbs, blaming the lockdown situation as he lives in New York.

Describing him as "the right guy at the wrong time," Ferne revealed on First Time Mum that social distancing meant they were no longer able to see each other for the foreseeable future.

"How can I see a future with someone when I can't physically be with them for the foreseeable future?" she said. "I was naive to think the long distance thing would be okay. We have broken up and it is proper sh*t.

"Long distance relationships are hard. Not knowing when I'm next going to see him is rubbish."

This Morning airs Mondays through Fridays on ITV. Ferne McCann: First Time Mum airs on ITVBe.
