Ferne McCann has shared her sneaky trick for dealing with unwanted parenting advice from "the mum police".

The former The Only Way Is Essex star recently welcomed her second daughter, baby Finty, and is also mum to six-year-old Sunday.

But she told Steph's Packed Lunch that even second time round, she still has to constantly fend off unsolicited advice on her parenting choices from people commenting on her social media posts.

However McCann, 33, said that she had come up with a way of redirecting the comments.

McCann, who documents her parenting journey in reality shows First Time Mum and My Family & Me, told show host Steph McGovern: "The mum police, they come out in force, and it's really strange that when you have a child in the public eye people think that they know you."

Talking about the comments she gets, she said: "It could be anything - how I'm holding her, how I'm supporting her head, if she's wearing enough layers. I'm like, 'how can you see that through a picture?'

"But you know what, I just welcome in the mum police and sometimes I go on my Insta stories and I'm like, 'I need help with this' and then they love it because they feel like they're really helping you."

Despite finding a way of dealing with the attention, McCann admitted: "But when you get trolled...you know what, we all parent differently and it's whatever works for you and your family.

"I have definitely grown a thick skin over the years, but it's crazy some of the things they come out with."

She added: "Sometimes people say things that are really valuable that I didn't know, but other times I'm like, 'give me a break, I'm tired, I've been up all night, you learn on the go'."

McCann also said that she had surprised herself by becoming a competitive parent over her older daughter's sporting achievements.

She said: "I didn't think I'd be that parent, but on sports day I was like 'SUNDAY!' cheering her on from the sidelines, I must have sounded so Essex."

The TV star said she had told her mum: "I feel so sick, I've got this rush of adrenaline. She was like, 'Babes, she's five. If she goes to the Olympics, then you can be nervous but right now it's year one, just chill.'"
