Will Ferrell buying stake in Leeds United - report

Will Ferrell is reportedly becoming the latest celebrity to buy a stake in a British soccer club by investing in Leeds United.

Sources close the Anchorman star say he has bought a share in the club, who will play in The Championship's play-off matches deciding the third team promoted to the Premier League this season, from owners 49ers Enterprises.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday: "It's true - Will Ferrell owns a share of Leeds. The 49ers will be announcing his involvement in the coming days and he's looking forward to sprinkling a little stardust on the club. He loves soccer and has been particularly impressed by the passion of the English game."

Sports news website The Athletic also reported Will's investment in Leeds.

He is already a co-owner of Los Angeles FC and has been spotted watching football matches when in the U.K.

The funnyman reportedly joins Russell Crowe, as The Gladiator actor and Leeds fan is also a limited partner in Leeds via 49ers Enterprises.

The Elf star is just the latest celebrity to get involved with a British football club.

Wrexham co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have guided their club to two promotions, Michael B. Jordan owns a stake in AFC Bournemouth, and American football star Tom Brady has invested in Birmingham City.
