Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy says his future will be decided in the coming weeks, following links with Manchester United.

Borussia Dortmund are now considered the current frontrunners in the transfer race for the attacker’s signature, with the 28-year-old admitting he can “definitely” see himself playing for the Champions League finalists.

Guirassy enjoyed a brilliant season with Stuttgart and was a major reason why the club finished second in the Bundesliga last season, recording 28 goals in as many league games. Across all competitions, he tallied 30 goals in 30 club outings.

As a result of his form, a number of clubs have been linked with an interest in the Guinea international, who missed four Stuttgart games due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations at the start of the year.

United are one of those being linked, with the club seeking a new striker this summer. Anthony Martial is leaving upon the end of his contract this month, which leaves Rasmus Hojlund as the only natural centre-forward.

United are unlikely to spend big on a new attacker, having committed £72m for Hojlund last summer, but it has been frequently reported that Guirassy has an appetising release clause of just £17m.

The forward himself is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding his plans for the future, but has revealed that his next steps will be decided upon in the coming weeks.

He described Bundesliga giants Dortmund as “a very big club” while speaking to Sky Germany, before adding: “But nothing is advanced, I’m still under contract with VfB [Stuttgart]. Now it’s time for a vacation. We’ll know in a few weeks what will happen.”

Guirassy still has two years remaining on his deal at Stuttgart, whose club chief was eager to cool talk of his exit last month. Chairman Alexander Wehrle declared: “For many it is clear that he is leaving, for me it is not at all clear. But we will sit down after the season.”
