Fans of Fifth Harmony have gotten pretty emotional after the group announced a hiatus so the remaining members can pursue their own solo projects.

Following months of speculation, the band posted the news of their split on their social channels on Monday morning saying, "After six years going hard, non stop, we also realised that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors."

They added that they're "excited and grateful" to "learn and grow creatively and find our footing as individuals."

Fan reactions were strong when the news finally broke.

The hashtag "#ThankyouFifthHarmony" has been trending since the band announced they'd be going their separate ways with fans showing their appreciation for Fifth Harmony's career.

One fan thanked the group for "being the light of our lives," while another thanked them for getting them through the "tough times."
