Fifth vehicle 'may have been involved' in Tulse Hill hit and run

Police have said that a fifth vehicle "may also have been involved" and may have struck a woman who died in a fatal hit and run in Tulse Hill.

The Met Police said the drivers of all four vehicles which are thought to have struck the victim have been spoken to, plus the driver of a fifth vehicle who they now believe may also have been involved.

CCTV footage released on Friday shows a white lorry and a black car as two of the four vehicles to have hit a 29-year-old woman in Tulse Hill, south London.

She was hit by an HGV as she used a pedestrian crossing on Norwood Road, shortly before 7am on 11 December while the lights were green for traffic.

Police say the driver failed to stop at the scene and the woman was then hit by a second lorry and two cars.

Further analysis of CCTV has established that a third car may also have struck the woman. This car also did not stop at the scene.

Acting Detective Sergeant Alastair Middleton said: "Even though we have traced all the vehicles that we believe were involved, I continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision and the moments afterwards to contact us immediately.

"We want to hear from anyone who travelled from the South Circular junctions of Norwood Road going towards the junction of Brixton Hill between the hours of 6.30am and 7am on the day of the collision.

"We are particularly interested in any dashcam footage that may have captured some of the incident before or after the collision."

Officers believe they know the identity of the dead woman, who was staying with family in Wandsworth, but was originally from Poland.

A post-mortem examination has found that the provisional cause of death was multiple injuries.

Among the drivers brought in for questioning is the 49-year-old driver of the first lorry, who has been interviewed under caution; and the 52-year-old male driver of the second car who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

The driver of the second lorry, the driver of the first car involved in the collision and the driver of the third car that may also have been involved have been traced, police said.
