Final Details Of Jubilee Pageant Revealed

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will join the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh on board the royal barge for the Thames river pageant on June 3.

Buckingham Palace also confirmed that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will join the two princes and Kate on board the Spirit of Chartwell.

Other vessels will transport key members of the royal family along the 7.5 mile route of the Thames flotilla.

The Havengore boat will host The Duke of York, his daughters and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Pageant organisers told reporters at the City's Guildhall that it will be the biggest event in British history of its kind.

Lord Salisbury added: "The objective is simple, to thank the Queen for 60 years of hard labour and making it look so easy."

From Greece, where he is collecting the Olympic flame, mayor Boris Johnson added in a video message: "It'll be like Dunkirk, except more successful and more cheerful."

One million spectators are expected to pack the banks of the Thames to watch 1,000 man-powered and motorised vessels travel down the Thames led by the Queen's barge

Pageant officials confirmed the Thames Barrier will be closed for the day, keeping water levels high and less choppy.

Many roads, bridges and the Thames itself will be closed to traffic from 7am.

A huge police operation will also be mounted on the day with 23 police boats patrolling the pageant and search dogs will monitor the many bridges.

Details about the 10 music barges in the pageant have also been released.

Among the music chosen is the Dambusters theme to be played as the RAF Memorial is passed and the Bond theme while passing MI6 headquarters.

Some 105 vessels too big to pass under Thames bridges will also be moored in an "Avenue of Sail" stretching from London Bridge to Wapping.

Among them the Jubilee Sailing Trust's tall ship, Tenacious and a junk that has sailed to Britain from Hong Kong.
