Fire damaged warehouse buildings to be demolished

FIRE damaged warehouses could be demolished if new plans by a Bradford business are approved.

Dudley Hill based John Sylvester Ltd produces fastners and plastics, and has warehouse space on Vulcan Street.

Two of its warehouse buildings were badly damaged in a fire several years ago, destroying the roof, and the company says the buildings have been unusable since.

Plans to refurbish the building were approved in 2019, but work never began.

Now a new application submitted to Bradford Council seeks permission to demolish the damaged warehouses – which are next to the business’ main warehouse building.

Car parking spaces, including RV charging units, would be built in their place.

The main warehouse building would undergo a refurbishment as part of the plan, and storage containers would be brought on site while the work is undertaken.

The application says: “The proposed works will remove the now derelict building, improve the overall appearance of the building and provide an improved layout for warehousing and distribution.”

A decision on the application is expected next month.
