Fire rages in Spain's Alicante province

STORY: The wildfire comes as Spain has experienced unseasonal high temperature for April since Friday (April 12), with many places marking 10C (18F) higher than normal for the season.

The regional head of interior and justice Elisa Nunez visited the field operation centre where firefighters are operating and said the fire was aided by the heat which increased at mid-day and also an excess of vegetation which had served as a "tinderbox."
