Fire Seen at Russian Embassy in Moldova Following Alleged Molotov Cocktail Attack

Police arrested a man for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau, Moldova, as voters lined up to cast their ballot in the Russian presidential elections.

Footage captured by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) Moldovan service shows smoke and flames rising from a building on the embassy complex and Carabinieri detaining a man as bystanders confront him.

At one point the man says, “I despise Russia. I despise that powerless bastard,” according to translation provided by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Anti-Putin protests have been reported outside Russian embassies in multiple locations amid the elections, including in Berlin, where Yulia Navalnaya was seen.

Navalnaya called on Russians to participate in the protest and to vote for any candidate aside from Putin, deface their ballot, or just show up without voting, according to the Moscow Times. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
