Firefighters conducted a rescue operation in Ningbo, in China’s Zhejiang province, after heavy rainfall caused by Typhoon Chanthu brought flooding to the area on September 13.
This video, released by Ningbo Fire, shows adults and children being helped onto a rescue boat amid waist-high floodwaters. The fire service said the people had been trapped in their homes.
“The deepest part of the water level reached 1.7 meters, and the water flow was turbulent,” Ningbo Fire wrote in the video’s caption.
The storm was expected to bring strong winds and rainfall and potentially make landfall near Shanghai, according to a local weather bureau.
Ningbo Police said localized flooding caused by the typhoon forced the temporary closure of some roads in the city.
