Firefighters Work to Contain California's Thomas Fire

California’s Thomas Fire continued to grow overnight, hitting 234,200 acres burned on Tuesday, December 12. The fire stood at 20 percent contained.

Nearly 900 buildings have been destroyed and thousands more in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties were threatened, a news report said. Thousands have been evacuated since the fire started burning a week ago.

The town of Carpinteria, where this video was taken, declared a local state of emergency on Monday because of the growing wildfire, a news report said. Evacuation orders were issued for the town over the weekend.
