Firefighters Put Out Long-Burning Blaze at Qayyarah Oil Field

Firefighters put out a long-burning fire at the Qayyarah oil fields, south of Mosul, on Saturday, December 3.

The city is in Iraq’s Nineveh province, once controlled by Islamic State, who booby-trapped the area on their way out. Improvised explosive devices and bombs were planted by the militant group in the vicinity of the well and the roads leading to it, a spokesman for Iraq’s Ministry of Oil told Hamrin News.
