Firework Shop Fire Sets Off Spectacular Display

More than 70 firefighters have been battling a major blaze at a garden centre that sells fireworks.

Homes near the fire at The Flower Factory in Southampton, Hampshire, were evacuated and witnesses shared footage after they were woken by loud bangs and whistling fireworks at about 5am.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was under control and added that no-one had been injured.

Some 13 engines and support vehicles were involved in the operation to control the fire.

Witness Chris Nichols posted on Twitter: "Woken up by big bang. Fire on Bitterne Road West, which appears to have hit the firework factory."

Lenny posted: "Woke up to fireworks this morning and thinking who the hell sets them off at 6 in the morning. Turns out the firework factory is on fire!"

South Coast Ambulance Service said: "Supporting @Hants--fire at major fire at fireworks factory, Bitterne Road West, Southampton Pls avoid area."
