First look inside Wingstop's biggest restaurant opening in Westfield Stratford next week

I was invited for an exclusive first look at Wingstop UK’s new site, set to open on Monday, July 1, at Westfield Stratford City, and I can see it's going to be a big hit. Their largest restaurant to date is set over 5,000sq ft with over 160 seats, and is bringing 140 jobs to the area.

I absolutely loved the restaurant’s dark green theme and futuristic style, which are exclusive to the branch. When we arrived, the new staff were just finishing up their training and looked really excited about starting on Monday.

Malachy O’Keefe, their Chief Marketing Officer, said: "Years of hard work have led to this moment, opening our biggest branch in a renowned shopping centre - which will also be our new flagship store. Our team and designers have worked tirelessly to create incredible colours, branding, and designs for this location."

To celebrate the opening, the first 100 customers in-store will receive free chicken wings. Wingstop also partners with brands that resonate with its core Gen Z customer base, such as JD Sports, Gymshark, Foot Asylum and TikTok.

The American brand started as a small buffalo-style chicken wing restaurant in Texas in 1994. Now, it has over 2,100 locations.

Lemon Pepper Holdings introduced Wingstop to the UK in 2018, and it now boasts 48 branches. Recently, it was crowned the fastest-growing restaurant group in the UK for the second year running by The Sunday Times 100. Fans include rappers Stormzy and Central Cee. And after trying their food, I'm a fan too.

Wingstop offers wings, boneless pieces, and tenders in 10 different flavours. The tenders, crispy outside and soft inside, were my favourite, especially with the Louisiana cashew and garlic mix.

However, the best flavour for me was the spicy Korean Q, a perfect balance of sweet and smoky, and not that spicy. I tried that flavour with the boneless pieces, which were also amazingly tender.

Despite being a fast food restaurant, all food at Wingstop is prepared to order, so the chicken doesn't sit on hot plates waiting to be ordered. This ensures the chicken is always fresh and packed with flavour.

Their Big Flavour Burger with Hickory Smoked BBQ was also delicious. Alongside the fried chicken, it features slaw, pickles, and their best-selling ranch sauce.

However, I preferred their honey mustard and blue cheese dips over the ranch, especially with the lemon pepper house fries. The fries were so good I couldn't stop eating them. For drinks, Wingstop offers a freestyle soda machine with multiple flavours. I even found my rare favourite, Fanta grape.

Wingstop UK continues to grow in popularity, often drawing long queues at new openings. Even during my visit, eager customers were already knocking on the closed doors, asking when the restaurant would open. So be sure to arrive early at Stratford on Monday to enjoy their amazing wings for free.
