Adventure company Ninja Warrior has confirmed it will open the doors on its first Northeast venue this summer - and it has given us a first peek at how it will look.

The company creates activity parks which challenge thrill-seekers to climb, balance, bounce and swing across obstacles and inflatables and its destination venues have already proved to be a massive success elsewhere in the UK, taking inspiration from its hugely popular ITV hit TV show.

Now the firm has announced Ninja Warrior UK Teesside – the first of its kind in the region – will welcome adventurers to its Teesside Park base from July. The huge 28,570sq ft indoor venue – which will also create a host of new jobs – will boast a mix of courses and inflatable runs inspired by the family favourite programme, and can host 365 people each hour across the courses and cafe.

The venue will include the Warped Wall, battle towers, two fixed obstacle courses, an inflatable course with tunnels, as well as the ultimate obstacle course to race through. A dedicated inflatable course for under fours is also being created. Other features include a gaming zone, six party rooms, a viewing mezzanine and a cafe.

Ninja Warrior UK Teesside will also be offering Ninja Lates - a monthly event exclusively for over-18s to conquer the iconic obstacle courses in 60-minute sessions.

Dawid Kaminski at Leisure TV Rights Ltd, the company behind the venue at Teesside, said: “It’s fantastic to announce the opening of the Ninja Warrior UK experience to the North East this summer, right in time for the summer holidays. We will be bringing an action-packed experience to this massive venue, which offers activities for the whole family to enjoy, as well as our Ninja Lates for those who prefer to visit the venue during adult-only sessions.

“We cannot wait to deliver this famous experience to Teesside, which welcomes everyone to enjoy fitness challenges whether with groups of friends and family or solo training.”

Work is already under way on the attraction, which is taking shape inside the former Rainbow Casino site which closed its doors in 2016. Ninja Warrior becomes the latest brands to announce plans for the park in 2024, joining Nike, which opened a new concept store in the former New Look, and the future Primark spot next door, which recently set a summer 2024 opening date in the former Mothercare unit.
