First look at new Toys R Us in Nottingham city centre with great deals

A new Nottingham branch of Toys R Us opened on Saturday, June 22 at WHSmith in the Victoria Centre following a new deal between the two brands. This follows the closure of all UK stores in 2018 - when the American toy company went into administration - which included local branches such as Riverside Retail Park, Victoria Centre and St Peter’s Retail Park in Mansfield.

The new store, located in the popular shopping centre, is one of 30 Toys R Us across the UK set to open in WHSmith shops. The section features a range of toys, dolls, action figures and learning games from brands such as Barbie, Hot Wheels and Lego, among others.

There is a range of deals for customers, including £5 off when you spend £40 on all toys and games in the store. Specific deals also apply to certain items, including 20% off DC Comics figures, reductions on board games such as Operation - from £21 to £12 - and two for £12 on Hot Wheels monster trucks.

Some puzzles are included in a two for £12 deal, while others can be brought in a three-for-the-price-of-two incentive. There is also a half-price rail for customers which includes items from brands such as Star Wars, Peppa Pig and Hot Wheels.

Ian Sanders, WHSmith group commercial development director, said: “We’re really excited to be opening Toys “R” Us in Nottingham.

"WHSmith is known for being the hub of the High Street by providing customers with a range of great products and services. Partnering with Toys R Us gives us a leading toys and games range in our stores and means customers have even more reasons to shop with us. We look forward to welcoming many more customers into our store.”

Toys R Us was founded in 1957 by American businessman Charles P Lazarus. It expanded to become a worldwide chain of more than 1,500 stores, with its famous mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe - originally known as Dr G Raffe -introduced in 1969.
