First Trans-Tasman Kayaker Poised to Arrive in New Zealand

Kayaker Scott Donaldson is expected to complete a 1,300-mile, six-week journey from Australia to New Zealand when he lands on New Plymouth, New Zealand, on the evening of July 2.

Video taken by his support crew on June 28 shows him about 180 km from his destination at Ngamotu Beach.

Donaldson, whose was rescued near Taranaki when his first trans-Tasman attempt failed in 2014, is poised to become the first person to cross the Tasman Sea on a kayak, according to the NZ Herald.
