Hit musical Five Guys Named Moe is marking the 25th anniversary of its international success with a new production at Marble Arch.

A temporary 650-seat “spiegeltent” theatre is being built for the show, which started out at Stratford East before becoming a sell-out success in the West End and on Broadway in 1992.

Clarke Peters, who wrote the show inspired by the music of jazz musician Louis Jordan, is returning as director. He said the new theatre space was “perfect for creating a closeness and dynamic energy between the story and the audience”.

The production, which will have a live band, is a collaboration with the show’s original West End producer Cameron Mackintosh and Underbelly which runs the Udderbelly Festival on the South Bank.

The theatre — next to the Marble Arch monument — will open in August. It was approved by Westminster council earlier this year.
