A Norfolk lifeboat rescued five people from a pleasure boat after it ran aground in a river.

After HM Coastguard raised the alarm just before 3pm on Sunday, volunteers at Hunstanton RNLI launched the fast inshore lifeboat known as Spirit of West Norfolk.

The four-strong crew made their way to the mouth of the River Ouse near King's Lynn, reaching the grounded boat at around 3.30pm.

They picked up the five people on board, none of which were injured.

Two crew members elected to remain with the vessel and wait for the tide to re-float her.

Spirit of West Norfolk returned to Hunstanton station at 4.45pm, where she was cleaned down and made ready for service by the crew.
