Five-Year-Old Girl Left Bleeding From GLASS ‘Found In Glitter Bath Bomb’

A young girl was traumatised after she was left bleeding from glass that was apparently found in her bath bomb.

Five-year-old Holly Martin was having a bath at her home in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester, when she cried out to her grandmother, Helga, who found her granddaughter in tears with a cut foot.

Helga claims she searched around the bathroom for glass shards but found none - and concluded that they must have come from the glittery bath bombs she had placed into the water.

Helga, who bought the gift set from Boots, said: “The bath bomb set was a Christmas present and the girls were really excited to try them out. It was a set of six and they chose a pink and a blue one.

"I popped downstairs while they were playing and heard one of them crying. When I came back in, she was lifting her foot out of the bath and whimpering and that’s when I saw the blood.

"I looked all over the bathroom but there was no sign of broken glass anywhere else. I even rang my son and daughter-in-law but they had no idea where it could have come from.

"We realised it must have come from the bath bombs, which was quite shocking.

“They weren’t particularly cheap ones and they were designed for children too, which makes it even worse.”

The product has since been returned to Boots to be investigated, but Helga is hesitant about ever using bath bombs again.

The 56-year-old, who lives with her son Steven, his wife Angela and their two daughters Holly and nine-year-old Libby, added: "We never normally use bath bombs, just bubble bath, but we used these because they were a Christmas present.

“I’d be worried using bath bombs in future – or I’d have to crumble them up first, just to be sure…

“Thankfully the cut is healing but it wasn’t a nice experience for any of us.”

A spokesperson for Boots UK said they were investigating, adding: "We are very sorry to hear about this incident.

“The quality and safety of our products is of utmost important to us.”
