The latest look at The Flash's fourth season doesn't seem to be telling us the whole truth about the return of Barry Allen.
Yes, it's true that a Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) comes face to face with his love Iris West (Candice Patton) and the STAR Labs team in the promo, but we're not convinced it's our Barry Allen. See for yourself below:
If this truly is our Barry (and, honestly, we're still not 100% convinced that it is), Cisco's attempt to pluck him out of the speed force definitely went haywire.
What's definitely not in question is that Central City needs The Flash back as its protector because Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) are no match for new super-villain Samuroid.
Central City will also be besieged by various other super-villains throughout this season, including The Thinker (Neil Sandilands) and his sidekick The Mechanic (Kim Engelbrecht), Lobo stand-in Breacher (Danny Trejo) and metahuman dealer Blacksmith (Katee Sackhoff).

With this Barry Allen mystery and an onslaught of super-villains all converging at once, we can only wonder exactly how Barry and Iris will find time to marry this season and take part in an epic four-show crossover, as promised.
The Flash returns Tuesday, October 10 at 8pm ET on The CW in the US. Sky 1 airs the show in the UK.
