Flash Flooding in Southbank After Torrential Rain Lashes Melbourne CBD

Widespread flash flooding hit Melbourne’s central business district on Friday, December 14, after storms lashed the city.

Victoria SES tweeted that people located in Melbourne and the eastern inner suburbs were in danger due to floodwaters.

The “freak storm” left drivers trapped in cars, train lines suspended and power outages, according to The Age. Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said over 37 mm of rain fell in an hour in the CBD, 21 mm of which fell in 10 minutes.
