Yahoo News I flew to Africa for a one-night spa break and it was cheaper than my local health club
A man in search of a spa day was shocked to discover it was cheaper to fly to another continent for a pamper than it was to spend a day at his local health club.
Content creator Rob Adcock said he would have had to fork out almost £229 at his local spa in Staffordshire. Instead, he used Skyscanner to find cheap flights to Agadir, Morocco and decided to have a spa break there instead.
Rob said in a TikTok video that his flight, bus transfer, one night stay and spa day at a newly-opened 5* hotel cost £45 less than a day at his local spa. Flying from Manchester Airport, he snapped the flight up for just £31 - although he later found cheaper flights from London for just £14.99.
Three and a half hours later, he had touched down in sunny Agadir, swapping Staffordshire's drizzly, 9C weather for North Africa's clear blue skies and 28C temperatures. Taking a £3.14 bus transfer, Rob then stayed at a luxury 5* hotel just a stone's throw away from the beach.
The View Agadir had opened its doors just days before Rob's stay. The stunning resort boats both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, six restaurants and beautiful sea views.
The spacious rooms encompasses flavours of Morocco throughout with light blue and white themed décor, from wallpapers to sofas and double beds. The rooms also come complete with balconies to really make the most of the hotel's beachside location.
In his video, shared with his 56k TikTok followers, Rob, who has been creating travel content since 2018, said: "It is unbelievable, I cannot put into words how good this hotel is. It is flawless." He added: "It's the only hotel I've ever been to where I'd happily move into tomorrow."
It cost a further £92 for a one-night stay, while an extra £58.92 gave Rob access to the spa facilities and treatments. With two different pools and 'unreal' massages, Rob was delighted with his trip.
In total, Rob said it cost him £185.06 for the trip - £45 cheaper than the UK spa day he'd found. In the video's comments section, he clarified that his return flight cost £19. Including a return transfer for another £3.14, that would bring the trip's total to £207.2.
That makes the trip £22.86 cheaper than a day at the unnamed Staffordshire spa. Although, Rob also highlighted that he found cheaper flights from different airports, including a one-way flight for £14.99 from London.
Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: "Been to Agadir and I loved it. stayed in the city for 5 days and in Taghazout for 2". Rob responded: "Class isn’t it? I’d never been to Morocco before and I’m already booking to go back".
Another second said: "We love a good international spa break" as a third wrote: "I need more of this hotel!!"
