Florence Pugh wished boyfriend Zach Braff a happy 46th birthday with a special message.

The 25-year-old Midsommar star marked the occasion on Tuesday by posting pictures of the Scrubs actor with their dog, Billie.

It’s this magical persons birthday,” Pugh wrote on Instagram. “A year ago we got Billie three days before Zach’s day and she’s flopped on her back for tummy tickles from him like this ever since.”

She went on to point out the fluffy loungewear Braff - whom she described as a "special fella" - was sporting in a final picture as well as his mismatched shoes.

Pugh continued: "His need to make people laugh and smile is never ending, his constant generosity and love for others is infectious, his creativity and ability to put real and honest words onto the page inspires many and all who’s around him, but above all.. his appreciation for life and excitement for LIVING is something I always take note of.”

She finished the caption by saying: "Happy Birthday chicken, odd shoes is a good look."

The couple worked together on the 2019 film In The Time It Takes To Get There and are believed to have entered into a relationship that same year.

After wishing her beau a happy birthday online last year, Pugh said she was forced to disabled the comment section as she received a deluge of abusive comments.

In a video, she said some of her followers had "decided to bully for no reason".

She also responded to criticism of the 21-year age gap between herself and Braff last year.

Pugh told Elle magazine: “I have the right to hang out and be with and go out with anyone I want to.

“I’ve always found this part of what people do really bizarre. I’m an actor because I like acting and I don’t mind people watching my stuff, but people have no right to educate me on my private life.”
