Arguably one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Foo Fighters, are about to embark on a huge show at the Principality Stadium, with thousands of fans set to attend the band's first Welsh date for almost two decades. Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Josh Freese will bring their Everything or Nothing At All Tour to the iconic venue on Tuesday, June 25 after calling at Manchester, Glasgow and London.

It will be the band's first Welsh date since 2007, when they played on the bill alongside Oasis at the Noise and Confusion gig. At their first gig on Saturday, June 15, the Foo Fighters performed at the Emirates Old Trafford and were supported by Cardiff-based band CHROMA, which consists of Katie Hall, Liam Bevan and Zac Mather.

However, they won't be the only Welsh band who have been selected by the Foo Fighters to open their UK shows this year. Cardiff band Himalayas will be the band's first support act for their Tuesday gig in the Welsh capital, coming on at around 5.25pm. You can follow our live blog for the show here.

Undoubtedly, this gig will be one to remember, not just for the fans but for those who will be performing on stage too. Himalayas was formed in 2015, and their hit single, Thank God I'm Not You, has impressively reached over 45 million streams on Spotify. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

The group consists of Joe Williams, who plays the rhythm guitar and is the lead vocalist, Mike Griffiths, the lead guitarist and provides backing vocals, Louis Heaps on the bass and James Goulbourn on the drums. Their debut album, titled 'From Hell to Here', was released last year, and their most recent singles include 'V.O.V' and 'Hung Up'.

It has been a busy time for the band recently, having performed in Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, London and Bristol already this month. Speaking to WalesOnline at the time the support acts were announced last year, the band's frontman Joe Williams told WalesOnline that supporting the Foo Fighters had always been a "pipe dream" for the band. "We found out a week before it was announced through our agent," he explained. "Our agent looks after the Foo Fighters as well. Our agent saw our set show in London and wanted to sign us from there. We’ve always talked about the idea of supporting the Foo Fighters as if it was a pipe dream.

"We got a phone call after talking to our management about potentially doing the shows. And then, it all came through. We are all super chuffed and it doesn’t feel quite real, to be honest. Maybe it will feel real over time. All of us are just super super excited." Following the support announcement, Joe also explained that the band had been inundated with positive response from their fans.

He said: "The response has been amazing. I think it’s because it’s such a big jump for us, I guess, we’ve supported bands at arenas but Millennium [Principality] Stadium is a pretty big jump. I guess a Foo Fighters show doesn’t get bigger than this! The response has been insane, perhaps people that have been sleeping on us are finally picking up on us."

The frontman also expressed his hope that the show will be an opportunity for the band to show the very best of Welsh rock. He said: "This will undoubtedly be one of the best shows we’ll do in Cardiff. We’ve been at this venue so many times, watching other gigs happening, always dreaming of being on that stage.

"We are reminded day in, day out that we live in the same city as that venue. It’s going to be insane." He added: "We’ve always tried to fly the flag for Wales and this performance will be no different. We’ve done fairly big shows where we actually bring the Welsh flag with us - we represent Wales always."
