Police desperately hunting for missing Brit Jay Slater have released new footage of their search efforts. The 19-year-old has been missing for more than a week after vanishing during a holiday in Tenerife.

Guardia Civil's search for the apprentice bricklayer is now in its tenth day. Teams are currently scouring rural areas near Masca - a village which is home to under 100 people.

In an update on X, formerly known as Twitter, police said units from Madrid had joined the search. A helicopter has been deployed, along with dogs assisting those searching on foot.

Jay was last heard from on Monday, June 17. He had been with friends at the three-day NRG music festival on Sunday, June 16, when he travelled in a car towards the north of the island with two men he met there.

It is understood he stayed with the men at an Airbnb near the remote village of Masca before leaving the following morning. He called a friend to say he needed a drink and had one per cent battery left on his phone.

The missing Brit also told his friend he was attempting the 11-hour walk back to his accommodation. It is believed Jay's phone last pinged in the Rural de Teno park.

Footage released by Guardia Civil on Tuesday (June 25) shows a helicopter flying over the mountainous area, while teams with sniffer dogs comb through the hilly landscape. In another clip, one officer uses binoculars to search for Jay.

Guardia Civil said: "We continue with the search for the young British man missing in #Tenerife. Different Guardia Civil units from the area participate, joined by agents with their dogs specialised in searching for people, from #Madrid."

Jay's loved ones - including his mum Debbie Duncan - have flown out to the Spanish island as search efforts continue.
