No one can accuse Peruvian football fans of lacking passion for their team – after a goal celebration actually registered on earthquake sensors.

The celebration came after a decisive goal in a World Cup qualifier, with Peru’s Jefferson Farfan breaking a 0-0 stalemate 27 minutes in.

Fans in Lima’s Estadio Nacional went so wild after the goal that it was picked up by accelerometers belonging to the Geophysical Institute of Peru – and registered on an automatic earthquake-detection app.

It registered as a 1.0M tremor (not an earthquake) but triggered the Sismo Detector app to send out an alert through the city, IFLScience reported.
