Yahoo News Football tournament raises vital funds for Aberdeen Children's Hospital charity
It was a victory for ‘Team Police’ at the annual Battle of the Badges football tournament, where a total of £20.2K was raised for the Archie Foundation, the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
The group of police staff went head-to-head with their emergency service partners, ‘Team SAS’ after hospital staff, ‘Team NHS’, and fire service workers, ‘Team Fire’, were knocked out in earlier rounds.
The event, which took place on Saturday 8th June at the home of Cove Rangers Football Club in Aberdeen, looks to raise funds for the foundation which works to transform services and experiences in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families in Grampian.

Attendees enjoyed face painting for the kids, meeting police dogs, getting to tour a fire engine, a tombola and a bouncy castle and meeting ‘Toffee the Unicorn’. Kids also had the chance to beat mascot ‘Archie Bear’ in goals.
Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in North Scotland, supported the event for the second year as the main sponsor.
Each footballer who played in the tournament had a designated mascot, who was supported by The Archie Foundation through NHS Grampian or Dr Gray’s in Elgin.
The Archie Foundation works to transform services and experiences in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families in Grampian, Highlands and Tayside.

“The mascots had a brilliant time taking part in some fundraising footie fun! It is an incredibly special moment to see all the mascots walk out onto the pitch with their player on the day itself and we want to say a huge thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for sponsoring this year's event."
