'Foreboding Sky' Deters Tourists in British Holiday Town

The seafront at Brighton is a popular tourist destination throughout the year, though on October 16, the area was virtually deserted, as footage uploaded to YouTube shows.

Ex-hurricane Ophelia caused Brighton and other areas of southern Britain to be caked in an orange glow, with Met Office forecaster Grahame Madge explaining: “Air is being pulled from southern Europe and Africa and that air contains a lot of dust."

Footage from Brighton-based YouTube user CarolineD shows the contrast between some of the town’s brightly-colored huts which sit along the seafront area, and the “foreboding sky,” as the YouTube user put it. Credit: YouTube/CarolineD via Storyful
