Foreign Office warns holidaymakers of large fine over taxi mistake in Spain

Holidaymakers in Spain are being warned over a possible fine if they make this mistake when using a taxi during their travels.

Spanish tourists have been told by the Foreign Office that they should only use official registered or licensed taxis, or reputable transport companies.

If you use an unlicensed taxi service while in Spain, you may be faced with a fine of up to €600.

The gov.uk website states: "Only use official registered or licensed taxis, or reputable transport companies you recognise. Licensing regulations differ across Spain and in certain cities pre-booking is required.

"Passengers caught using unlicensed taxi services are liable for fines of up to €600. Make sure you book your taxi or airport transfer through a licensed firm."
