What adjectives would you use to describe your ideal sexual partner? Romantic? Adventurous? Spontaneous?
Actually, you should probably be going for someone ‘conscientious’ instead – as a new study suggests that good planning is the key to keeping the sexual spark alive.
Researchers from Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany interviewed 964 young couples about their sex lives – and their personality types.
They found that people who were conscientious – ie efficient and organised – were having more and better sex.
Part of the reason might be that men who rated themselves as ‘conscientious’ were more likely to ensure their partner was satisfied.
The researchers write,’Conscientious individuals reported better sexual function.
‘High conscientiousness can be especially beneficial when it comes to putting effort into a satisfying sexual life, or to postpone one’s own needs and interests to focus on resolving a sexual problem within the context of committed, long-term relationships
