Former EastEnders star Milly Zero lands new role after Dotty Cotton exit

Former EastEnders star Milly Zero has landed a new role after her exit as Dotty Cotton.

The actress departed from the BBC soap at the end of last year, with Dotty storming out of Walford in a hurry after finding out she wasn't the sole recipient of her grandmother's will.

Following her EastEnders departure, Milly has landed a new project. She'll be swapping the small screen for the stage as she plays Hermia in the Gatehouse Theatre's adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The run will take place in Stafford from June 23 to July 9. Milly is set to star alongside Kerry Ellis and Jonathan Hyde.

"I have missed being on Stage SO much these last few years, so I am so excited to return with a new challenge - my first Shakespeare play," wrote Milly on her Instagram account. "Hope to see some of you there."

In a statement from the Gatehouse Theatre (via The Mirror), Milly also shared: I can't wait to get on stage at The Gatehouse, with such a wonderful cast and team.

"Hermia is a wonderfully feisty, defiant and exciting character and I feel very lucky to get the chance to take her on."

Upon the announcement of her exit from EastEnders in November, Milly wrote: “After 3 and a half years, I have decided my journey with the icon that is Dotty Cotton has come to end."

She continued: "I can't tell you how life changing and incredible my time at EastEnders has been, and how much I am going to miss it, but I am ready for new challenges now.

"Thank you to everyone that made it so special – I have made friends for life, learnt huge amounts, and made memories to last a lifetime."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
