Former GMB star quits GB News job after just a few months and posts cryptic tweet

Former GMB correspondent Pip Tomson has left her role at GB News just months after joining the channel.

Pip announced her departure to her followers on X, previously known as Twitter, with a mysterious message on Sunday. She tweeted: "UPDATE FROM ME I have left GB News. I will decompress now [and] map out life's next crazy adventures."

She also posted a video from her time presenting the GB News breakfast show alongside Michael Portillo, which led to an outpouring of support from her fans. One wrote: "Good luck in whatever you're gonna do or wherever you're going Pip," while another wished her: "Rest well Pip, wishing you all the best for whatever comes next."

Before her stint at GB News, Pip had a longstanding career with ITV, starting at GMTV in 2009, moving to Daybreak in 2010, and then becoming part of the Good Morning Britain team in 2013, as writes the Mirror.

After a decade with GMB, she made the switch to GB News, where she expressed excitement about challenging "powerful types" and giving a voice to the disillusioned, criticising "intolerant people" as she embraced the new opportunity.

She stated: "Here I am. A presenter and journalist - now at GB News - who's relishing the opportunity to challenge and hold to account the powerful types and offer a voice to those who want to be heard but are thoroughly disillusioned so don't bother to engage.

"I want to help change that and redress the balance, without fear or favour. I'm a people person which is why I became a journalist in the first place."

Pip acknowledged that GB News does stir up controversy, yet she slammed those critics labelling them as "intolerant".

Continuing on, she added: "I was also well aware of the flak directed at GB News. Much of it from those types who profess that they're tolerant members of the 'Be Kind' brigade (yawn) but are actually some of the most intolerant people you could ever hope to meet if you don't profess to share their views."

Further elaborating on her decision, she said: "I sought out the advice of some of the less tribal folk including one of the most famous broadcasters in the business. I don't want to name them but they've always been incredibly generous in terms of advice, feedback, reflections on the industry and how to deal with those delightful social media trolls."

"'It's a no brainer,' came the answer. 'You've got to do it. It's very exciting for you and a proper adventure.'" In her extended post, Pip confirmed she was eager to co-host an afternoon show after a decade of early morning stints on GMB.
