Former Hull City loanee Scott Twine's future remains firmly up in the air as he waits to see where he'll be playing his football next season.

Twine, who spent the first half of last season on loan at City after becoming one of the club's high-profile summer arrivals along with Jaden Philogene, Liam Delap and Tyler Morton, finished the campaign at the Tigers' Championship rivals Bristol City playing under his old MK Dons head coach Liam Manning.

The attacking midfielder caught the eye in the second half of the season at Ashton Gate and despite playing only 10 times owing to injury troubles, Manning is keen to make the deal permanent.

And that's where the problems lie for Twine and the Robins with no sign of a breakthrough with Burnley when it comes to striking a permanent deal with the two clubs some distance apart in their valuation.

When Hull City were keen on signing Twine 12 months ago, the Clarets were seeking around £5m for the 24-year-old and though that figure is thought to have been reduced, it's still not a workable fee for the Ashton Gate club, according to Bristol Live given he has two years to run on his Turf Moor deal, though they remain hopeful of finding some common ground with the managerless Clarets.

They say Twine, whose family is based at nearby Royal Wooton Bassett, has continued to train at Bristol City's training centre throughout the summer as he waits on news of his future.

While Ashton Gate remains his first choice option, managerless Sunderland and ambitious League One newboys Birmingham City have been linked with moves, only adding to the sense of nervousness on the Avon.
