Fiorentina striker Mauro Zarate is on the verge of agreeing a move to Watford.

The former West Ham and QPR player has already told Watford coach Walter Mazzarri he wants to join.

Zarate is set to sign a three-year deal and his brother, Rolando, who is also his agent, said: “This is a realistic possibility. We are discussing a definitive purchase with Watford.”

Fiorentina had wanted £3million for Zarate but it seems the clubs have agreed a fee closer to £2m.

The Argentina Under-20 international has 18 months left on his contract but has decided to leave so he can get more playing time.
