Four taken to hospital after horror crash in Bolton

Four people have been taken to hospital following a crash in Bolton tonight. It followed a collision between two vehicles on St Helens Road.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene at around 7pm. Pictures from the scene showed a large section of St Helens Road was cordoned off and two badly damaged saloon cars, one of which had ended up on a pavement. Two air ambulances were also dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters remained at the scene as an investigation into the crash began tonight. Four people were taken to hospital, although their conditions have not been released.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire & Service (GMFRS) said: "At around 7pm this evening (Saturday, 22nd June), firefighters were called to reports of a crash on St Helens Road in Bolton.

"Two fire engines from Farnworth and Hindley fire stations quickly arrived at the scene, which involved two vehicles. Firefighters cut one casualty free from their vehicle.

"Three other casualties had self-rescued before the arrival of the fire service and were transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service and conveyed to hospital.

“Crews remain at the scene.”
