Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi has revealed he’s turned down a number of lucrative I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! offers – because he can’t bring himself to share a toilet.

The veteran rocker said that he’d enjoyed the use of his own private toilet since his 20s and wasn’t about to give up the privilege at the age of 70.

He told The Sun: “They’ve asked me a few times but if I can’t have my own toilet then it’s a case of ‘thank you, goodbye’.

“Do I really want to go in the toilet with four days of s*** in it? Of course not.

“I’ve had my own bathroom since my 20s. Why would I want to share that with anyone?”

The reality TV show is known for its revolting “dunny”, a shared long-drop outdoor toilet that the celebrities must take turns emptying each day.

Rossi said he would consider becoming a campmate for a million-pound fee, but that even then he wouldn’t be “the ideal candidate” because he’d refuse to do any challenges.

Ahead of every series of the ITV show, rumours begin about which celebrities will be joining the line-up, and Rossi said people often thought it included him just because it coincided with a gap in his Status Quo touring schedule.

The celebrities who are heading into the jungle this year have begun arriving in Australia, with Caitlyn Jenner, Jacqueline Jossa and Ian Wright all spotted at the airport arrivals gate.

Ant McPartlin rejoins co-host Declan Donnelly this year after a series off in 2018 while he attended rehab for alcohol and prescription drug addiction.

He was replaced by This Morning host Holly Willoughby, who was a hit with viewers but who stressed that she was only ever a temporary stand-in for McPartlin.

Together, the duo have presented 17 series together, and this will be McPartlin’s 18th and Donnelly’s 19th when it begins on Sunday evening.
