Fred Sirieix joins BBC's presenter line-up for Paris Olympics

Fred Sirieix has joined the BBC's line-up of presenters for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The French TV personality, who is best known as the maître d' on Channel 4's reality show First Dates, will be involved in the BBC's coverage of the upcoming Olympic Games.

Fred, 52, will be a studio pundit for the diving competition coverage and appear in short features looking at cultural issues surrounding the Games.

The I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! contestant has a connection to the sport - his 19-year-old daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix has been confirmed to represent Team GB in the diving competition.

He revealed in an interview with Metro earlier this year that he once tried diving himself - but it didn't go well.

"I even tried diving for five days with my daughter, Andrea - who's an Olympic diver with Team GB. I was black and blue, I got bruised everywhere, it was so painful. I was scared every time I was on the board," he recalled.

"My daughter was on the ground and she said, 'Daddy, you've got to relax, we can see your heart beating in your chest.' I can't believe she saw that."

Clare Balding and Gabby Logan lead the presenting line-up, while other special guests including Olympians Laura Kenny, Moe Sbihi and Vicky Holland.

In addition, gymnast Beth Tweddle, cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, athlete Dame Denise Lewis, heptathlete Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and swimmer Rebecca Adlington will give their analysis and expertise.

The coverage begins with the opening ceremony on Friday 26 July.
