Free chicken will be on offer as a new chicken restaurant will open its doors next week. US Chicken restaurant chain Popeyes has been finalising work on its new restaurant at St Oswalds Retail Park in Gloucester, with numerous jobs created.

The branch will open at 11am on Monday, July 8, with free Chicken Sandwiches to be handed out to the first 25 customers at the new restaurant. In addition, the first three lucky people on foot abd the first three vehicles in the queue will receive free Chicken Sandwiches for a year.

Outside the restaurant, there will be three car parking spaces, and 106 seats for guests to dine in, or guests can takeaway, or order online to collect from specially dedicated bays.

Hungry diners can expect to eat their signature 12-hour marinated chicken with signature Cajun gravy and fries. Its menu also features breakfast items, and fast food snacks including its brand-new, Big Brekkie Wrap and Buffalo Ranch Sandwich.

Popeyes is aiming to open hundreds of sites in the UK over the next decade across shopping centres, high streets and drive-thru locations, and offer its signature Louisanna chicken burgers and sandwiches to hungry travellers. Tom Crowley, CEO at Popeyes UK, said: “Our new Gloucester restaurant is a key part of our continued expansion into the South West and we cannot wait to bring a taste of New Orleans to the city.

“Opening a drive-thru in St Oswalds Retail Park means that more people from across the local area can get their hands on our Famous Louisiana Chicken. Our recent openings have been some of our busiest to date, and we’re confident that our new Gloucester restaurant will be just as popular. We’re really looking forward to welcoming those working and living in the area.”

Jason Robinson, Senior Destination Manager for St Oswalds Retail Park, commented: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Popeyes to St Oswalds. The retail park already has a fantastic food offering, and Popeyes is set to add something new to the mix, giving shoppers and local residents more great-tasting choice.”
