A much-anticipated new TV channel is hitting our tellies - and the best news it is free. Rewind TV promises to broadcast an assortment of the UK's most cherished shows.

Bossed say it is the "destination channel for lovers of curated classic TV from around the world". Among the shows are Return of the State Department S, which originally premiered in 1969. 1990s comedy show Drop The Dead Donkey will also feature.

To stoke the flames of anticipation further, a promotional sizzle reel has been released on social media platforms. An original track with lyrics promising top-tier content spanning four decades was incorporated into the video: "It's time to catch up on all your favourites. Let's go back in time, ain't that amazing."

Among the featured series will be Return of the State Department S, which originally premiered in 1969 and starred the likes of Peter Wyngarde, Joel Fabiani, Rosemary Nicols, and Dennis Alaba Peters.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, renowned Oscar winner, had formerly essayed the role of Greg Halliday in this 28-episode British spy-fi adventure series. Tony Hancock, via his eponymous ITV series from 1963 - a show that is awaiting its first re-run on UK TV - will make a comeback.

The luminaries of GlobeLink News are slated for a return through the Channel 4 sitcom Drop The Dead Donkey, also included in the slate of programmes. This comedy ran for six seasons between 1990 to 1998.

Other vintage presentations scheduled for broadcast include The Beiderbecke Affair (1985), and Shine On Harvey Moon (1982).
