French fitness blogger killed by exploding cream

A popular fitness blogger in France has been killed by an exploding whipped cream dispenser.

Rebecca Burger, who has 55,000 Facebook fans and 154,000 followers on Instagram, died of cardiac arrest after the dispenser apparently hit her in the chest.

Her devastated family announced the death on Facebook, saying she died in a “domestic accident”.

A warning about faulty dispensers was also posted on Ms Burger’s Instagram page, with a picture showing one that had exploded.

A family member claimed there were tens of thousands of “defective devices” still in circulation.

Whipped cream dispensers work by injecting gas into a metal container, keeping the entire dispenser under high pressure.

However, faulty connections on the gas capsules can cause them to break and shoot out at incredibly high speeds.

Accidents as a result of faulty dispensers were highlighted by French consumer magazine 60 Millions.

French publication Le Parisien claimed a product recall saw only 25,000 out of 160,000 dispensers returned, meaning unsafe containers could still be on the market.
