French Rioters Damage Apple Store in Strasbourg During Nationwide Protests

An Apple store in Strasbourg, France, was damaged by rioters on Friday, June 30, as protests continued around the country following the police shooting of a 17-year-old male during a traffic stop in the Paris suburb of Nanterre on Tuesday morning.

Footage from the scene on Place Kleber in central Strasbourg shows young people kicking and smashing the windows of the store, and people exiting the store through a broken window before running away.

Damage was also inflicted on a Lacoste store and a Galeries Lafayette department store in the city, according to local media.

Many stores closed their doors as unrest spread through the city, AFP reported, and other footage showed police firing tear gas to try to disperse the protesters. Credit: La Presse Libre via Storyful
