Police have renewed their appeal for information regarding the death of a 98-year-old man following a violent robbery in his own home.

Peter Gouldstone died in hospital on November 30 after being found with a head wound and extensive bruising following the attack on November 6.

Police said a number of possessions had been taken from the address on Evesham Road, Enfield, north London, including a 26in Panasonic television.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on December 19 on suspicion of murder and has been bailed to return on a date in mid-January.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wrigley said: “We have made a lot of progress with our investigation and we have made an arrest, but we are continuing to appeal for the public’s help.

“I urge anyone who has information, no matter how small a detail, to search their conscience and contact police without delay.

“I particularly want to hear from people that may have been offered the Panasonic television that was stolen, or who saw either people or vehicles in the vicinity of Evesham Road, N11, that may have appeared out of place.”

Charity Crimestoppers has announced a reward of up to £10,000 for any information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the attack on the Second World War veteran.
