Friends creators share an update on the possibility of a reunion series
Friends creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane have provided a definitive update on the possibility of a reboot or reunion series – and the answer is still the same.
"We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” said Kauffman during a Friends 25th anniversary panel at Tribeca TV Festival on Friday (September 13).
Explaining that the characters have all moved on in life, she said: "The show was about that time in life when friends are your family."
And just to make sure there's absolutely no remaining doubt, she added: "It’s not going to beat what we did."
Crane then concurred: "We did the show we wanted to do. We got it right, and we put a bow on it."
The co-creators had already ruled out the possibility of a reunion series back in June, with Kauffman telling Associated Press: "Why mess up a good thing? We wouldn’t want a reunion to disappoint fans.”
Her comments came after Jennifer Aniston teased she'd be open to getting back together with her old cast mates, and that they'd be interested, too.
Speaking on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Aniston said: "Why not? You know what, because, listen, I told you this. I would do it... The girls would do it. And the boys would do it, I'm sure. Listen. Anything could happen."
Well, it appears it won't.
